New to our website? We hope you find this site to be a valuable resource.
This site exists, as does CASA, as a resource to prevent the illegal, underage use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs before children are in trouble. How? By connecting parents, school, and the community as partners in this common goal.
In "Learn More" you will find:
- Useful articles on substance abuse prevention.
- Information about CASA.
- A profile of tobacco, alcohol and drug use among Manhasset young people, through surveys administered in 1998 and 2001 to all students in grades four through twelve. Surveys were coordinated by the National Parents’ Resource Institute for Drug Education (PRIDE).
"Take Action" offers opportunities for just that.
- Check the calendar for programs and follow links to photos of past events.
- Discover "CASA Coffees" and how you can begin networking with other parents.
- Read about "Parent Power" to confirm why your involvement is both important and effective in the fight against underage substance use.
- Contact CASA with questions and concerns. And volunteers are welcome!
"Find Resources" has links to interesting and useful information and sources of help.
Students - "Just for Youth" is a section especially for you. It contains resources, photos, and programs of relevance to youth.
In the future, we hope to be adding more valuable content and resources: ideas for conversations you can have with your child while driving them to and from softball ("Carpool Conversations"), and Voices from the Community—people sharing from their experiences and their points of view.
